The Bakery is a dedicated workspace and Accelerator Programme designed to introduce great new technology from all over the world to large brands and their advertising, creative and media agencies. If you are at all interested in new marketing technologies, you should be talking to us!
We are a “Second Stage” accelerator; most accelerator programmes are primarily about getting you investor ready and finding funding…helping you get investment so you can build your technology. The Bakery is all about getting your first big reference client. We introduce you to a global brand who wants to buy your technology, then we help you refine your solution fast so that it can drop straight into their existing marketing strategy, and this way we help you get to revenue faster than would otherwise be possible.
We have selected some of the world’s most forward-thinking non-competing global brands and their advertising, creative and media agencies, and we’ve worked to help them identify areas in their various businesses they are keen to address. They have all put aside budget to trial new technologies that could help them in these areas, or perhaps other issues they haven’t yet considered. The 10 technology companies that are successful in getting into the Accelerator will each work with their chosen brand and agency team during the Programme to prove that their technology is capable of addressing the specific issue, and if proven, will receive payment and carry on into a real-world trial with their new client, a global brand, possibly their first real reference client.
Along the way, the technology companies will all receive mentoring, advice and support from The Bakery team and their network, proven specialists in the area. Naturally, all the other brands in The Bakery could be potential clients too.
Well, possibly..! The Bakery typically will look for a small equity share in each technology business that enters the programme, between 2-8% is normal. However, because we are entrepreneurs ourselves we understand that this just isn’t possible in every situation, in which case we will share the risk and secure a commission on revenues gained as a result of the introductions made by The Bakery. We would hope that you will see the benefit of having The Bakery as a shareholder in your business, as equity is our preferred route.
We have taken great care to share our suggestions for best practice with our client brands as to how best to engage with early stage businesses however, if you are selected ultimately the deal between you and your chosen brand is negotiable; they will expect a certain amount of sector exclusivity in return for being a trial customer, but beyond that what you agree is up to you. We are on hand to advise and guide you if you need assistance.
The technology companies that are selected to be part of the Accelerator receive free office space in our building in Tech City for the duration of the programme, plus free mentoring, coaching and advice from our network of industry specialists and partners.
For the duration of the programme the tech companies selected to take part in the accelerator will need to move into The Bakery premises in Tech City, in order that they can get the full benefit of working with our brand and agency teams. This will ensure that their proposition stands the best chance of meeting the clients’ requirements by the demo day.
